Coursera
Coursera, as part of their social impact efforts, offers Minds Matter Bay Area’s students and volunteers access to a catalog of online courses for free. Coursera was founded in 2012 by two Stanford computer science professors with a vision to provide anyone, anywhere with access to the world’s best education. Today, Coursera has expanded to reach 53 million people and 2,300 businesses around the world. On Coursera you can find online courses, Specializations, certificates and degrees from 200 world-class universities and companies, including: Yale, University of Pennsylvania, Google, IBM, and more.
LinkedIn Learning
LinkedIn Learning offers Minds Matter Bay Area’s students free access to LinkedIn Learning’s courses. LinkedIn Learning is an online learning platform that helps professionals learn relevant skills to achieve their goals. It’s a unique combination of 3 critical ingredients: 1) real-time skills insights, which identify skill trends and learner needs, 2) a library of 15,000+ courses taught by expert instructors, and 3) an engaging and intuitive learner experience that professionals will actually use. LinkedIn Learning helps professionals develop the skills they need for the jobs of today and tomorrow.
10,000 Degrees (10KD)
In 2018, San Francisco-based college success nonprofit and long-time MMBay partner Meritus and the Meritus College Fund joined forces with 10,000 Degrees. California’s leading college success nonprofit, 10,000 Degrees® helps students from low-income backgrounds get to and through college. Thanks to comprehensive personal support, college advising, and financial aid management, over 80% of 10,000 Degrees four-year college students earn bachelor’s degrees, compared to 49% of their peers nationally.
