Meet Michelle
Michelle Chen
Mentee Engagement & Recruiting
Meet our volunteer, Michelle Chen! She has been an active member of the Minds Matter community since 2017. Michelle started her involvement as a mentor and helped guide her mentee from sophomore through senior year, and ultimately seeing him off to college! Since then, Michelle has been helping with Mentee Engagement and Recruiting to ensure that Minds Matter continues with our mission of helping low-income students pursue higher education.
“MMSF has shown me the power and impact of community.”
What Is Your Favorite Part of Minds Matter? My favorite part of Minds Matter is seeing the direct and long lasting impact that our community makes on mentees. It’s been so amazing to see the kids evolve, grow, and find their own path towards higher education. Without a doubt, the volunteers have also learned so much from Minds Matter and I am so grateful to have been able to meet so many wonderful volunteers through the years!
What Is Your Favorite Minds Matter Memory? There are so many! One that really sticks out to me was when my co-mentor and I took our mentee to the Cheesecake Factory to celebrate the end of high school and getting accepted into one of his top colleges. I felt like a proud mom in that moment when we reflected on how far he had come since sophomore year and we were filled with excitement talking about all the memories he'll make in college.
