Meet Will

Will Griffith

Junior Class Instruction Lead

Meet our volunteer, Will Griffith! Will has been actively involved with Minds Matter for 2 years. During his first year, he was a part of the Sophomore Summer Learning team helping sophomore mentees get into summer college programs. His second year, Will took on a leadership role as a Junior Instruction Lead as well as a Junior Math instructor, teaching math fundamentals and SAT content. Thanks to the dedication and time from Will and our instructors, 100% of MMSF graduates have received admission into four-year colleges.

What Is Your Favorite Minds Matter Memory? My favorite Minds Matter memory would have to be the field day we hosted in Winter of 2021. I joined Minds Matter after the start of the pandemic, so I never had the opportunity to connect with Mentees and other volunteers in person. It was fun to take session time that Saturday to play games like red light - green light. Although the pandemic has presented challenges, I think Minds Matter has done a great job bridging the gap for Mentees and volunteers by organizing activities like field day.

What Does Minds Matter Mean to You? I view Minds Matter as a way to connect with the community. I joined because I wanted to share my experience with anyone that might benefit from hearing it, including education and career experiences. I lacked access to that type of knowledge going through high school and think it would've been useful to know before going to college.

What Inspired You to Become an Instructor? One of my favorite jobs while in college was tutoring math to high schoolers in the LA area. I had been looking for opportunities to teach math since joining the workforce and thought that this role was a great way to get back into it!
